Visit of the courtroom
of the Nuremberg Trials
August 5, 2015 · 18:00h
On Wednesday at 18: 00h, conference participants are invited to visit the Courtroom 600 where the world-famous Nuremberg Trials against leading representatives of the Nazi regime were held in the aftermath of World War II. Since December 2008 an exhibition on these trials, the “Memorium Nuremberg Trials”, has been established in this historic location, as a new information center and memorial site.
The Nuremberg Trials led to principles of the prosecution of international war crimes, crimes of genocide and crimes against humanity that had lasting impact on global justice.
For further details see: www.memorium-nuremberg.de
As the courtroom is still used for important trials, accessibility is limited. We are grateful that the High Court at Nuremberg will provide a guided tour in English in the courthouse. Conference participants who wish to attend this guided tour should inform us at the registration desk on their arrival. Attending participants will be given a free metro ticket and instructions about the subway ride, in order to find the easiest and fastest way to get from the Nuremberg city center to the palace of justice.

On Thursday evening, the conference dinner will take place at 19:30h. Based on our past experience that a fixed amount of money is sometimes too high for students and young colleagues with lower income, we have chosen a flexible solution that suits the individual eating and drinking habits and everyone’s budget.
The dinner will take place in a historic restaurant in a building that dates back to the 14th century and which was used to shelter a hospital, called the “Heilig-Geist-Spital” (“Holy Ghost Hospital”). The restaurant is located over the Pegnitz River in the center of Nuremberg. It can be reached within 6 minutes of walk from the conference venue. The restaurant offers traditional Franconian food and wine as well as international cuisine and vegetarian dishes. The prices are moderate.
At the conference dinner a joint award ceremony of the EAPL and the P&L Division will take place where the prizes of the associations will officially be awarded to the 2015 winners.
We hope that the large majority of conference participants will attend this event and will enjoy meeting friends and new colleagues in a relaxed atmosphere. To allow the restaurant kitchen a realistic planning, we kindly ask all participants to tell us at the registration desk on their arrival whether they will attend the conference dinner on Thursday evening.

After the last keynote on Friday at 13:00h the scientific program of the conference will be finished. Immediately afterwards there will be a closing ceremony and farewell reception at the conference venue where some drinks and snacks are being served. We expect that there will be many colleagues to join us and to celebrate with us the end of the conference including a glass of wine (or anything else).
